How regular dental visits can help patients in the Garland area avoid a dental emergency

Visiting the dentist can cause apprehension, fear, or anxiety in many patients. This could be for a number of reasons. Perhaps you have a strong gag reflex. Maybe you are facing several large procedures. You might have memories of a bad or painful procedure in your past. No matter the reason, sedation dentistry is a safe and effective way to help patients relax in the dentist chair. Dr. Suri and her team at Kings Dental are happy to offer nitrous oxide to make sure our patients receive they care they deserve.

Nitrous oxide, known to many as “laughing gas,” is inhaled by the patient. Nitrous is considered mild sedation, and the patient will breathe the gas along with oxygen through a mask that is placed over the nose. The level of sedation is monitored throughout the procedure and it can be adjusted as necessary. During the procedure, many patients report a euphoric feeling that keeps them easily distracted and calm. After the mask is removed, the effects of the nitrous oxide will fade quickly.

Nitrous oxide is given before the procedure begins and works rapidly to relieve fear and stress. You will not feel lethargic or “out-of-it” after treatment and are actually able to drive yourself home. It is safe for use on children.

You may experience some mild side effects including nausea, dizziness, hallucinations, or vertigo. Please tell Dr. Suri or another member of the team if you feel these as they may be eliminated by a reduction in the level of gas.
